The Gel Master story began in 1990 when Norman and Carolyn invented a gel machine to produce gel ice packs. They sold ice packs to various fresh food distributors in Alaska. They soon discovered that there was a high demand for inexpensive gel packs. They decided to expand their business by building and selling the gel machines to their customers, allowing them to produce their own gel packs at a super low cost.

In 2026, Norman and Carolyn’s son and daughter in-law stepped up to officially take over the business, keeping it in the family.
