Are you ready to make your mark? If you're looking to join a dynamic team and innovative organization as a TIG Welder 1 , we have an exciting opportunity for you. The Welder reports to the manufacturing supervisor and is responsible for manual TIG tacking and welding of various alloys. The position also involves minor TIG welding of stainless alloys. The position works under close supervision and uses limited decision-making and involves limited contact with external suppliers or customers.

Woodward in Zeeland, MI is looking for TIG Welder 1 on our 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm to join our team. This position will be responsible for performing various assembly and testing processes on our products. If you have experience in assembly in a manufacturing environment, apply now!

What you will be doing

Essential Functions

    \n
  • Clean, assemble and inspect parts per applicable work instructions.
  • \n
  • Communicate information to others about project status, updates, specific instructions etc.
  • \n
  • Complete necessary paperwork and computer entries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • \n
  • Manufacture/inspect production parts using welding processes and procedures.
  • \n
  • Basic assessment of weld parameter inputs and make adjustments during welding.
  • \n
  • Identify nonconforming material according to procedures.
  • \n

  • Keeps work area clean and organized, and maintains safety in manufacturing areas.

  • Promotes teamwork within the organization.

  • Maintains good attendance

  • Performs Mechanical Assembler or other related duties as assigned.

  • Competency Testing: Must be able to pass appropriate welder competency testing and requirements.
  • \n
  • Attention to Detail: The basic ability to accomplish a task for all the areas involved, including the ability to notice minor inconsistencies /faults in parts.
  • \n
  • Currency with Technology: Basic knowledge of current welding technologies. The ability to use computer and web-based systems to input, access, modify or output information.
  • \n
  • Communication Skills: Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine, factual information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area.

  • Mechanical Aptitude and Manual Dexterity: The position requires manual dexterity or the ability to work quickly with hands and strong hand-eye coordination. General knowledge of machines and equipment functionality, and how tools could be used on such equipment/machines. Steady hands to control size and placement of welds.

  • Ability to Work Within Safety Guidelines: Basic knowledge of and the ability to adhere to department safety rules regarding eye and ear protection, personal protection, hazard labeling, MSDS sheets, evacuation procedures, and emergency phone numbers..

  • Mathematical Ability: Basic ability to perform simple arithmetic computations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages.

This includes taking the necessary steps to ensure quality on a consistent basis and striving for improvement.

  • US - High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • Experience- Less than 2 years

  • Previous tacking and TIG welding experience
