Job Description

Strong automotive Parts Manager needed for leading high-volume import dealership just south of Portland, OR. This is with a family-owned new car dealership. Experience as a Parts Manager in a new car dealership is required for this role. The successful candidate is an organized Parts Manager who understands the numbers and how to drive gross profits. Moreover, we are looking for someone who is a great manager of people and a positive mentor to their staff. This is a very busy department, in clean condition, and has further room for growth. The successful candidate is a motivated Parts Manager that does not need to be micromanaged and comes to work every day energized and focused to make their department the best it can be. It is imperative that the Parts Manager hired works well with the Service Department to ensure a positive and efficient work environment. Likewise, it is crucial that the Parts Manager stays on top of internal parts orders so that the Service Department can get their work out. The dealership has a very large Service Department, that has consistently been beating YOY numbers, with a stable management team in place. The Parts Manager hired will be responsible to oversee a staff of 6 parts people in their department. It is important that the person hired is a great communicator and team player. Experience on CDK is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department
  • Create a positive, performance-oriented, work culture
  • Accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff development and utilization, pricing, merchandising and advertising
  • Assesses present and future needs, trends, and profit opportunities of the parts department
  • Work with the Service Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for Warranty and Customer Pay jobs
  • Selling parts to the service department and retail parts counter
  • Creating and monitoring special orders for the service department
  • Ensuring work schedule provides enough cover to support business needs
  • Monitoring Warranty Parts returns and promptly sending parts back to factory
  • Establish and maintain purchasing policies including purchase orders, inventory guide figures, order codes
  • Manages the shipping and receiving of orders
  • Oversees ordering and maintaining parts inventory
  • Establish and maintain programs designed to train, develop and motivate department employees
  • Ensure parts and accessories are available for sale
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales
  • Direct and schedule the activities of all parts department employees
  • Provide technical assistance to parts department employees
  • Monitor parts department employees' payroll records
  • Develop, enforce and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction – internal customers as well as retail customers
  • Establish and enforce a pricing policy that balances volume, customer loyalty, and the cost of doing business
  • Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence
  • Establishes short and long-term operating and financial objectives within the Dealership’s overall plans and policies.
  • Reviews and assess the results of the activities within the parts department and takes appropriate action, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation / Schedule:

  • Compensation in the $110,000 - 140,000 range depending on experience and performance.
  • Full benefits package available
  • 5 day work week
