Job Description

The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for commercial roofing projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of TPO, EPDM, PVC, Mod-Bit, metal, and roof coating systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, clients, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Estimate Preparation:

• Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather necessary information.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to develop accurate and competitive bids.

2. Bid Management:

• Analyze and interpret bid documents, contracts, and proposals.
• Submit bids on time and follow up on submitted bids to secure projects.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients and suppliers.
• Maintain accurate records of all estimates, proposals, and bid results.

3. Project Collaboration:

• Work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure estimates align with project goals and constraints.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and project kick-off meetings.
• Assist in the development of project budgets and schedules.

4. Market Research and Networking:

• Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.

5. Continuous Improvement:

• Review and analyze completed projects to improve future estimating accuracy.
• Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE IN COMMERCIAL ROOFING
• Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial roofing estimation or a related field.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., RRO, CDT) are a plus.
• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., EDGE, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Stack).
• Strong understanding of various commercial roofing systems and construction methods.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to conduct site visits, including climbing ladders and walking on roofs.
• Must be willing to work in an office environment with occasional site visits.
• Must reside within 45 minutes of the Beavercreek, Ohio office.
• May require travel to job sites, client meetings, and industry events.
