Performs specialized community support for the Orlando Police Department (OPD). Provides mobile crisis outreach to individuals with mental behavioral or substance use disorders. Primary duties include de-escalation and stabilization of those experiencing a mental health or substance crisis or unsheltered living. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed daily.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in Psychology Sociology Social Work Nursing Counseling Education or Criminal Justice and two (2) years of experience in crisis intervention; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Valid Florida Drivers License required. Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications required. Must pass police background check which includes polygraph. Must pass CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) training within the first week of hire.
