Job Description
The Meadows Campus Production Team is responsible for the production implementation of all concerts, rehearsals and events which occur at the Aspen Music Festival & School's (AMFS) main performance venues in Aspen, Colorado. These facilities include our 2,050-seat Benedict Music Tent and the 500-seat Harris Concert Hall. AMFS produces an 8-week festival presenting world class artists in classical music, opera, theatre, and more with multiple events happening every day. Orchestra Stage Managers (OSM) work under the supervision of the Meadows Production Manager and Assistant Production Managers.
Responsibilities - Orchestra Stage Managers will oversee the production needs of their assigned AMFS large ensemble.
- Orchestra Stage Managers interface closely with orchestra managers, librarians, artists, faculty, and other production staff to create logistically efficient paperwork including stage plots and run sheets for each concert cycle.
- Orchestra Stage Managers will have additional stage management assignments for recitals or special events as appropriate.
- OSMs will take on additional crew responsibilities for other events to fill out their weekly schedule including load in/out calls, work calls, rehearsals, etc... as assigned.
Requirements
- Candidates must have prior technical/production experience in the arts in stage management, electrics, rigging, and/or carpentry. Prior classical music or opera production is a plus. Classical music knowledge preferred.
- The ideal candidate must be strong, proactive, intuitive, respectful, and energetic. Candidates must be able to prioritize well, to complete multiple tasks quickly and efficiently and to utilize a variably paced schedule in a productive manner.
- Candidates must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and materials or, of greater weights in tandem with additional crew member assistance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience drafting stage plots in Vectorworks or AutoCAD is preferred but not required
- A valid driver's license is recommended.
Dates June 3, 2024-August 23, 2024
Compensation $15.42/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $4.45/hour depending on location.) Overtime $23.13/hour
Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
