Job Description
**Position Overview:**
As our Farm Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our diverse farming enterprise. From setting the pace for harvest crews to managing irrigation and weed control, your responsibilities will span the breadth of our operation. The position requires a keen eye for quality control, multitasking proficiency, and a deep commitment to organic farming practices.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead and set the pace for efficient harvest crews.
- Enforce quality control standards for produce and ensure correct packaging.
- Regularly check for pests, diseases, and nutrient issues.
- Manage irrigation systems and setup.
- Oversee weed control and cultivation activities.
- Coordinate farmstand restocking and rotation.
- Multitask in managing both field and harvest crews.
- Track succession planting and contribute to crop planning.
- Organize tools and supplies for seamless operations.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
- 3+ years of experience on an organic produce farm.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs comfortably and consistently.
- Proficiency in pest and disease management, and nutrient deficiency recognition.
- Willingness to work long hours on your feet.
- Enjoyment of outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Passion for growing food and supporting the local food system.
- Confidence in decision-making and good record-keeping skills.
- Valid ID and driver's license.
- Tractor experience, including switching implements, running fieldwork, and loader operations.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Management/shift leader experience.
- Proficiency with power tools, tractors, basic plumbing, and construction.
- Experience with irrigation setup.
- Previous work in organic produce farming or nursery.
**Job Type:** Full-time
**Salary:** $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
**Expected Hours:** 30 – 50 per week
